Do I have to be CPR / AED trained to join REACT?
Although it is recommended that you are trained in some level of First Aid and CPR, it is not required to join.
How old do I have to be to join REACT?
You must be at least 12 years of age to be considered in the application process.
How much time commitment is required in REACT?
Due to the number of different events that REACT is involved with, there is some commitment level required. Members are asked to attend a monthly meeting, once per month, throughout the year, as well as various events when available.
Do members get paid?
No, Waterloo Regional REACT is a volunteer organization, here to assist members of the public at community events, and emergency services when requested. There are no paid positions within the organization.
Do I have to have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check to join?
Yes, a Vulnerable Sector Check and other documentation will required to be considered in the application process.
I am interested in the career field(s) of Police, Fire and/or Paramedic, is REACT right for me?
Waterloo Regional REACT works very closely with emergency services in numerous different environments, and plays a vital role in assisting these services at events and callouts, so if you are interested in one of those career fields, REACT is a great introduction for you! (REACT is also great for and open to anyone looking to give back to the community, regardless of your interest in emergency services).
